There are different people in teams, with different talents and different character traits. If everyone works well together and uses his or her strength and talent for the benefit of the team, the team is effective and you work well together. But people can clash, ideas can clash, or one person's behavior can provoke resistance from another.
What can you do as an agile coach, scrum master or manager? Which interventions can you carry out and which aids can you use? What of these fits well with your personality so that it actually works in your practice?
NLP for Agile Coaches gives team coaches and executives in agile and lean environments the tools to turn groups of people into teams.
NLP stands for Neuro-Linguistic Programming. Via NLP you gain insight into the processes that play a role in communication with others. The training ensures that you will better assess people's patterns and respond to them more effectively. The NLP techniques are successfully applied worldwide by people managers, coaches, change managers and sales professionals.
Based on your personal profile, you will work with other agile professionals to develop and apply the coaching skills that suit you. The business application of NLP techniques is central to this.
The training consists of 6 blocks of 2 days. Each block focuses on a specific theme with which we logically bring together and reinforce the principles of NLP and agile coaching:
1. Communication and behavior
2. Create connection
3. Coaching techniques
4. Influence by language
5. Working systemically
6. Certification
In total we will work together for 12 days with practical methods. Prior to the training, we take a short personality test (CADT analysis) with you. The results are a guideline for your personal learning goal and we use it as your personal guideline during the training.
The first day we start with determining your personal learning goals and we provide insight into agile coaching and the power of NLP. We do this on the basis of the CADT analysis, the NLP communication model and the NLP presuppositions. By practicing directly, you immediately master the essence of the material and the step to practice is easy to make.
Each subsequent block starts with a summary and peer review, followed by new theory on coaching and NLP techniques within the context of agile working. Practical and immediately applicable.
Prerequisites and study load:
For this training we recommend HBO work and thinking level. It helps if you already have some experience as an Agile coach, team coach or scrum master. In addition to the 12 days of training (classroom or virtual), an additional investment of 30 to 50 hours must be taken into account.
The training requires serious commitment and effort in your daily work practice. After each block you will receive an assignment to apply parts of that block with your own team (s) and team members.
Block 1: communication & behavior
Block 1 is about you, your archetype, your talents and beliefs and the way in which you can use them.
• Determine personal learning objectives
• Agile coaching and NLP
• Archetype analysis (based on your CADT personality test)
• NLP communication model
• NLP assumptions: beliefs from which you act
Block 2: creating a connection
Block 2 is all about the other. By following the other, you learn to connect seamlessly to the language and the experience of the other. You are going to steer by following.
• Connect by building “report”
• Pacing & leading: connecting with your discussion partner (s) and taking them with you
• Logical levels of Bateson
• Stakeholder connection model: recognizing behavior and interests
Block 3: coaching techniques
Block 3 is the coach block. The internal experience of the other no longer holds any secrets. You learn various techniques to positively influence the mindset of others.
• Representation systems: what we perceive and how we translate it
• Sub-modalities: the building blocks of internal representations
• Reframing (reframing)
• Mindset: from a fixed, via a growth, to an agile mindset among team members
Block 4: influence through language
In block 4 you will learn the added value of smart use of language: from abstracting to making concrete and vice versa. You will ask your team members different questions, you will coach more broadly.
• Meta language model: becoming factual and concrete through pure use of language
• Milton language model: obtaining agreement and agreement by being effectively vague
• Chunking
• Steering in team language
Block 5: working systemically
In block 5 you will get even more insight into the roles and positions in a team. You discover imbalance and you learn to reduce and break through this pattern.
• Association dissociation and perceptual positions: team members learn to empathize with the reality of the other
• NLP technique “working with sharing”: in the interest of the team, having people solve personal challenges in a practical way
• Team and organizational constellations based on the work of Hellinger
Block 6: certification
You are central in block 6. You will determine your future goals and make plans to put what you have learned into practice through your own timeline. You also do the certification assignment on the last day.
• Presentations of your own learning objective
• Personal development line
• NLP coaching model
• Certification order
After the training NLP for Agile Coaches you have the insights and communication and coaching techniques to be (even) more effective in your role as a team coach, in building (even) more effective teams.
• Your teams work with even more pleasure and effectiveness.
• You have insight into your own behavioral styles and your own preferred behaviour.
• You have insight into your preferences in communication and its effect on others.
• You recognize what drives the people in your teams, how they communicate and why they communicate that way.
• You use different techniques to connect with the other in order to lead or guide more effectively.
• You recognize positions in your teams and deal with them more effectively.
• You recognize frustrating communication patterns and intervene in them.
• You use techniques to give teams insight into their own team dynamics and make adjustments.
• You coach even more professionally.
You will receive the NLP Practitioner certificate from the NVNLP (Dutch Association for NLP). The exam consists of a presentation of one or more techniques learned on the basis of a practical case (project assignment) issued in advance. With the presentation you demonstrate that you have a range of coaching techniques and that you can apply them within an agile or lean context.
The training is intended for Agile coaches, Scrum masters, Kanban coaches, Team coaches, Project leaders and Executives.
